Partindo do texto de Paul Ricoeur sobre Ética e Política, propõe-se uma releitura que, seguindo a mesma direção, vá além da posição de Ricoeur, atribuindo à dimensão ética um estatuto mais fundamental. Para isso, é inevitável abordar a questão do seu fundamento primeiro. É precisamente nesse nível da abordagem que se toca a questão do religioso. Nesse sentido, a dimensão religiosa poderia constituir um recurso fundamentador da ética, por um lado, e, através desta, da atividade política. Algumas sugestões de J. B. Metz inspiram esta última perspetiva.

Abstract

Based on Paul Ricoeur's text on Ethics and Policy, the article proposes a rereading that, following the same direction, go beyond Ricoeur's position, giving the ethical dimension a more fundamental status. Therefore, it is inevitable to address the issue of its first foundation. It is precisely at this level of approach that one touches the issue of religion. In this sense, the religious dimension could be a fundational feature of ethics, on the one hand, and through this, of the political activity. Some suggestions of J. B. Metz inspire that latter perspective.
