Enfoque y alcance

The "San Pedro de Alcántara" Theological Institute of the Seminary of the Diocese of Coria-Cáceres is an academic institution which confers a university degree (Bachelor of Theology recognised as a degree in Ecclesiastical Sciences) as it is a centre affiliated to the Faculty of Theology San Isidoro of Sevilla. This centre is one of the most deeply rooted institutions in the heart of the Cáceres region due to its diocesan links and the city's oldest centre of Higher Studies.

These two fundamental facts that characterise the Theological Institute of the Seminary - namely, that it is a university institution and that its aim is to train for service, interest and involvement in the life of the people of Cáceres - justify the birth of a periodical publication of studies and research as reflected in the objectives that we present.

In this sense, the Journal responds to the internal demands of the very development of the Statutes of the Theological Institute (both its aims and its articles, cf. art. 14) and to contextual demands: the greater integration and mutual enrichment between the institution of the Seminary and the vital diocesan, provincial and autonomous society in which it lives and which it is prepared to serve. It thus combines the deepening of the study of the local with the vocation of the universal theme that characterises the studies of the Ecclesiastical Sciences.

The journal is published by the Theological Institute of Cáceres, the University of Extremadura and the Francisco de Vitoria University. It is editorially managed by Editorial Sindéresis.

Since volume 2021, the layout of the sections has changed. The publication is made up of various sections, which are as follows:

1. Monographic and Miscellaneous Studies: Research articles of high scientific rigour with a solid conceptual and critical apparatus.

2. Documents: Presentation of written documents or critical editions.

3. Events and In Memoriam: In this section, we will report on important events in the intellectual life of the institution (for example, the inauguration of the course or the Week of Theological Encounter), events of interest in one of our sections organised by the diocese (Centenaries, Faith-Culture Week...), seminars and courses organised by the University of Extremadura or in which the Institute's professors have participated... In the same way, it is a place to dedicate some words for the disappearance of those people who, due to their closeness or notoriety, are worthy of it in articles named "In memoriam".

4. Bibliography: In this section, there are reviews and a list of books received in the Library that have not been analysed. The review or revision consists of the critical examination of work and will vary in length depending on the importance of the writings and books to be reviewed.

From 2022 the order will change to Miscellaneous, Studies and Reviews. It will be possible to publish several sections of Studies, which will remain unified in an online format. In paper format, the section Studies 2 and thereafter will be published separately, maintaining the pagination of the annual volume and the general table of contents of the annual volume. If there is a large number in Miscellaneous, the Studies (1) section will be published as above. The aim is to maintain an annual volume but in a manageable and accessible paper format.

The journal does not necessarily assume the opinions expressed in the published works.
