The Linguistic Ideology of Modernity and the Sociogrammatical Prescription: Methodological Problems, Results and Perspectives

Abstract
The hypothesis that complex societies are regulated by a kind of unwritten grammar serves to situate the discussion on linguistic ideologies, as a characteristic term of social linguistics and as a phenomenon in itself, nuclear in all social formation. The article briefly considers how ideologies have been studied in the social sciences and how they have been approached in the linguistic sciences, emphasizing the disciplinary distribution, the topics of study and the methodological and delimitation problems of units of analysis. The reflection closes with an appeal to expand the conceptual tools in this field to deal with the new communicative phenomena
