Cajetan and the Polysemy of the Notion of Universal in his Commentary on Thomas Aquinas’ De ente et essentia

Abstract
This paper aims to explain and understand the various senses of the notion of universal that are present in Thomas of Vio Cajetan, more specifically in his Commentary on Thomas Aquinas' De Ente et essentia. Once the semantic polysemy of this notion is exposed and understood, we will try to specify that the universal in the proper sense proposed by Cajetan corresponds to a term that is central in the doctrine of this author, namely, the objective concept.
