Abstract
The aim of this article is to develop a brief conceptual history of acceleration (both the experience and the concept) and a possible strategy for coping with and resisting its most alienating effects. To this end, the theological genealogy of the concept of acceleration and of the resources to combat it (which are referred to the concept of katejon) is identified. As far as acceleration is concerned, the arguments of Kojève and Koselleck, among other authors, are used. As for the strategy of resistance, the proposal of Giorgio Agamben is examined. His thesis on the need to overthrow all katejon is presented and it is argued that his anti-institutional proposal is insufficient to resist the alienating effects of social acceleration.
