Presentation and sending of articles

  1. The articles and papers submitted must be original and unpublished.
  2. The Journal of the Theological Institute reserves the rights to the articles it receives. Therefore, they cannot be published partially or totally in any other publication without the express authorization of the Review. If the Journal communicates the non-publication of the originals, the author will recover his or her rights.
  3. The originals must be sent by e-mail or through the OJS process, in Word format.
  4. The works will take into account as a reference a variable length between the following values: not less than 5,000 words, not more than 8,000 words (not including abstract-abstract and keywords), except in some cases required by the journal's management. The documents will not have a fixed number, but it could be, if the extension is very large, that they could be divided. Bibliography and chronicles of events 2000 words.
  5. The Title must be brief and must also be registered in English. It should contain the full first name in small letters and, after a comma, the surname(s) in capital letters. If there is more than one author, the journal will respect the order chosen by the authors (ISO, 215: 4.2.1), as well as the number of authors of the work. The academic degree, profession, position, work centre, e-mail address and explicit declaration, if applicable, of the support received for the elaboration of the research will be stated.
  6. The summary must reflect the objectives, methodology and conclusions, omitting any abbreviations, formulas or bibliographical references. It should be between 100 and 175 words and also presented in English. The key words, between 4 and 8, should then be noted, using a specialised thesaurus; they should be presented in alphabetical order and translated into English.
  7. In the Monographics Studies section, the editorial management is carried out by the section's coordinator(s). This means that the submissions and all the management of presentation, sending and evaluation will be carried out by these coordinators. In any case, the coordinators will ensure that the rules of the journal are scrupulously followed in all its aspects (presentation, submissions, evaluation, standards, ethics, etc.). For its part, the editorial team will supervise this process and will only approve the publication of the articles in the monograph after ensuring that the editorial process has been respected at all stages. In any case, the acceptance of the articles will be approved at the meetings of the Editorial Board.
  8. To be submitted in a separate document and, if done by OJS, a biographical note shall be uploaded in the metadata, following the following model:

Rules of style

1. The articles can be adjusted to the structure of IMRD (or IMRYD), by which the ISO 215:5.1 Standard is inclined, presenting an Introduction, which justifies the work and its relation with other previous works, describing the Materials, methods or techniques used, specifying the Results and the Discussion of them, as well as the recommendations that are considered appropriate. We propose that the different epiphraphs follow the following order (although it is not required):

I. Epigraph 1
1. Section 2
1.1. Section 3
1.1.1. Section 4

          a. Section 5

No other headings are allowed.

Units of measurement (ISO 215: 5.4), names, symbols, nomenclatures and terminologies established and endorsed by ISO and derived standards must be used. The journal recommends including an Acknowledgements section for those cases that require explicit declaration of the source of funding.

English inverted commas ("") should be used instead of Spanish inverted commas, unless the language requires otherwise, as in the case of French. Footnotes should be numbered before the full stop and not after it, unless the language requires otherwise, as in the case of English.

At a meeting held in 2020, and since the journal accepts papers from various areas of knowledge that are present in the Ecclesiastical Sciences, it was decided to use the Chicago Manual of Style, which in its 17th and 18th edition maintains two systems: (1) notes and bibliography and (2) author-date. Choosing one of the two often depends on the subject of study or the subject matter and nature of the sources cited. Each system is favoured by a certain group of knowledge areas.

The system of notes and bibliography is preferred for its usefulness and adaptation to methodology in the humanities, including theology and religious studies, philosophy, literature, history and the arts. This style presents bibliographical information in notes and a bibliography following the standards.

The author-date system has been used in the natural and social sciences. In this system, sources are briefly cited in the text, often in parentheses, mentioning the author and date of publication. The short citations are extended in a reference list, where the complete bibliographical information is provided.
