Abstract
La atención es un concepto clave en la filosofía de Simone Weil. Para la autora, la atención no se limita a posturas físicas o gestos, sino que expresa una “espera”. Los estudios escolares son el mejor medio para formar la atención, ya que preparan el alma para un nivel superior de atención, el de la oración. El más alto nivel de atención es sinónimo de la oración y no surge de manera espontánea, es más bien algo a ejercitar y desarrollar. La oración no es una simple repetición de fórmulas, es la unidad entre la palabra y la contemplación. Además, la oración implica vaciarse de sí mismo, lo que hace estar disponible para adoptar una actitud de “espera”. En definitiva, la oración no consiste en un alejamiento del mundo, ya que a través de ella se recibe una inspiración para comprometerse y actuar en el interior de la vida social y política; y a fijar la mirada en el prójimo, particularmente en los más desdichados.
Attention is the key concept in Simone Weil’s philosophy. For this author, attention is not limited to physical postures or gestures, but attention rather expresses a “wait”. Studies are the best training ground for attention, for the soul is then prepared for a higher level of attention, that is, prayer. The highest level of attention is synonymous with prayer but does not arise spontaneously. It is rather something to be exercised and developed. Prayer is not a mere repetition of formulas; it’s the unity between word and contemplation. Further, prayer involves that we are emptied of our own very selves, which disposes us to a “waiting” attitude. Lastly, prayer is not about keeping distance from world, because through prayer, one receives the inspiration to commit and act within the social and political life; and we fix our eyes on others, particularly upon the most unfortunate.
