Opinions and transformations of youth leisure practices in Spain
Main Article Content
Abstract
The pandemic has brought about major transformations in the lives of millions of people, including young people, who find themselves in a life stage in which leisure plays a prominent role in their lifestyles, characterized by a search for experiences outside the familiar environment and a leisure dependent on friendships as a source of well-being. This article proposes to explore how leisure becomes the object of a negotiation between social needs, normative demands and a crisis situation, investigating opinions and transformations of leisure among young Spanish university students. Quantitative findings revealed that (1) young people value more the importance of leisure in their lives; (2) some leisure practices have increased in relation to others and, (3) there are differences according to gender both in the opinions expressed and in the practices implemented.
