Family Leisure Values in Urban and Rural Contexts. A Gender Perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
Other non-school contexts, such as the family, are acquiring relevance in the preparation for life from the teaching of values, using all the experiential possibilities offered therein, as is the case of family leisure. The main objective of the study is to find out the values promoted in family leisure from the perspective of adolescents and their inference from the variable of the context of residence and gender. For this purpose, a total sample of 1055 students of Compulsory Secondary Education in the Region of Murcia selected the incidence or not, from their family leisure, of a list of 12 values. The results show a strong significance of the context of residence, in favour of those adolescents from urban environments; however, gender according to the urban-rural area does not present a relevant predictive value. Based on the findings, the need to reinforce, from formal, non-formal and informal settings, the guidance and accompaniment of families and adolescents for a better use of family leisure as an educational resource is highlighted.
