Abstract
El Liber Vitas Sanctorum Patrum Emeritensium ha servido para esbozar una fisio-nomía histórica de la Mérida visigoda, así como de los principales personajes que se vieron envueltos en los convulsos años de finales del siglo VI y principios del VII. Pero partiendo de nuevas tendencias metodológicas y analíticas –desde un plano más herme-néutico y no tanto histórico– pueden servirnos para intuir la mentalidad de quienes fue-ron sus redactores, más allá de una obra hagiográfica y propagandista.
The Liber Vitas Sanctorum Patrum Emeritensium has been used for outline a histo-ric physiognomy of the visigothic Merida, as well as the principals characters that were involved in the convulsive years of late 6th century and early 7th century. But starting off new methodologies tendencies –for more hermeneutic plane than historic– can serve us for intuit the mentality of those who were its writers, beyond a hagiography and propa-gandistic piece.
